Grampian Villa is located in the mature tree-lined streets of Nelson's dress circle on the lower slopes of The Grampians, and is a pleasant 5 minute walk from the centre of the sunny City of Nelson and all its attractions.
A total of 4 guest suites are available. Your hosts Paul and Gwen Searle offer a full breakfast selection - homemade toasted mueslis, yoghurts and cookies, home preserved fruits and a mouth-watering cooked breakfasts.
Grampian Villa has four Deluxe ensuited rooms - 3 spacious SuperKing bedded suites, and 1 Queen bedded suite with clawfoot bath. The two large upper floor suites have verandah access and with views of Nelson City and the sea and are especially popular with honeymooners and the romantically inclined. Both ground floor Garden Suites have French doors opening onto the spacious verandah. Rimu, Matai, Kauri and Totara native timbers are used extensively throughout the house. Built in 1895 one of the Nelson pioneer families, this historic and stately two storey Victorian Villa was purchased soon after by influential and public spirited Nelsonian Frederick G. Gibbs. Besides being a well respected local headmaster and almost single handedly classifying the flora and fauna of Nelson District, Frederick Gibbs was instrumental in establishing The Nelson School of Music, The Nelson Harmonic Society, The Suter Art Gallery, The Nelson Institute, and The Nelson Observatory.
